About Specialty Glassworks

Mark Warren, originally founded Specialty Glassworks, in Georgia in 1998. Born and raised in Connecticut, Mark, a creative artist from a very young age, has spent most of his life involved in art and devoted to developing skill in a variety of mediums including: Drawing, Painting (oils), Sculpting, Beadwork, Jewelry and Wood Carving. Receiving his formal education in Architectural Design Drafting, Mark also developed an interest in technology. Working as a computer technician through the early 90's he had an opportunity to return to the world of art with an opportunity to work as an apprentice in an etched and stained glass studio. There he learned the skills of glass etching, glass carving and stained glass using the copper-foil technique as well as leaded glass technique. Learning all he could and eventually working his way up to a partnership in the business.

In 1998 the opportunity arose for Mark to move to Georgia. He originally settled in Eatonton and set out to build his own glass studio and Specialty Glassworks was born. However, during the course of establishing the business, Mark once again turned to technology to supplement his income. Over the next 7 years technology had mostly taken over as Mark's career in the industry and consumed most of his time, requiring him to dabble in the glass business mostly as a hobby and a secondary enterprise.

In 2006, now settled in Greensboro, Mark decided to return wholly to his first real career passion, working with glass. With the full support of his family, he retired from his technology-based career and launched full steam into the rebirth and resurrection of Specialty Glassworks.

Now, as a family owned and operated business, working from a home-based studio we are proud to be offering unique and beautiful stained glass and etched glass art pieces. We offer custom designed works to fit your taste and décor.
